Overview:

Human Resources Manager

Roto-Rooter Services Company has a rare and exciting opportunity to join their corporate Human Resources department as a Human Resources Manager! In this role, you'll flex your interpersonal skills, policy writing expertise, and employment law knowledge in a continuous-learning and collaborative environment. The ideal candidate will possess excellent critical thinking skills, business acumen, and the ability to interact with employees of all levels of the organization.

Responsibilities:

Responsibilities:

Employee Relations

  • Supports management by providing human resources advice, counsel, and recommendation to field management and executives. Partners with our leadership team to implement HR best practices and provide proactive support of HR programs and approaches.
  • Interacts with HR peers and cross-functionally with other business units. Coordinates decisions and communications across multiple stakeholders within the organization.
  • Serves as an advisor to both management and employees.
  • Conducts investigations, analyzes findings, recommends/decides outcomes in a timely and efficient manner.

Employment Law

  • Subject matter expert in employment law - federal, state, and local. This would include paid leave; wage and hour; attendance and leave; employee relations; and recruiting and hiring laws, among others.
  • Expected to stay abreast of existing, anticipated, and new legislation for our multi-state locations.
  • Ensures adherence to regulation and policy requirements and advises management on needed actions.

Policy and Procedures/Projects

  • Writes and updates corporate policies and procedures. Drives the implementation of HR policies.
  • Revises and reissues corporate employee handbook.
  • Writes and updates job descriptions.
  • Assembles HR metrics turnover, cost, etc.
  • Completes governmental reporting including annual EEO reports.
  • Accomplishes special project results by identifying and clarifying issues and priorities; communicating and coordinating requirements, expediting fulfillment; evaluating milestone accomplishments; evaluate optional courses of action; change assumptions and direction.
Requirements:

Qualifications:

  • Experience supporting a multi-state employer.
  • Bachelors degree and SHRM-CP/SHRM-SCP or PHR/SPHR
  • 5 years of HR generalist experience with progressively increasing roles and responsibilities.
  • Strong knowledge of regulatory, legal, and statutory rules governing employment and labor law.
  • Excellent written communication skills to create and maintain job descriptions, policies, and procedures.
  • Exceptional customer focus and ability to build effective working relationships at all organizational levels.
  • The ability to adapt to changing environments and support multiple clients.
  • The ability to travel will be intermittent, up to 25%.
